The first real mountain

Sunshine Valley to Coral’s Cabins & Camping (27km E of Princeton). DAY: 147.61 km. ODO: 368km. AVS: 21.4km/h. MXS: 67.0km/h. ATM: 6:53.

More sunburn! Depart 8:30. Arrive 6:30. Allison Pass wasn’t so bad, though it is allegedly a bit higher than Rogers Pass. The big hill before Princeton seemed a lot worse, but perhaps because it was hotter, and I was more tired. I have been using my new Ipod (thanks to my teammates at Teligence) on the hills, to help occupy my mind during the ascents. It’s amazing how clear it is – I barely recognize some of the old songs. And I’m shocked at some of these modern lyrics! I have it on shuffle, which is a bit annoying at times, as inevitably a slow schmaltzy song comes on just when I need something energetic, and I have to take a hand off the handlebars to push “next”.

I was going to stay at a nearby Provincial Park, but I had forgotten to get cash in Princeton and had only $7.38, which was close enough to the $7.50 rate to satisfy Coral.
